Once again, the people in our great nation have made it through another difficult time period. It wasn’t always pretty, and much pain and sadness were involved, but we find ourselves on the other side now, trying to regain the status quo. The doors to the world are open again, and as many travelers are again making their ways to our Orlando doorstep, they are also seeking ways back to normal. Supporting local businesses at home and in your travels may be the simplest way to do so, and if your vacation journey has brought you to Orlando and a stay in one of our Tuscana Resorts Orlando escapes, well, you have made the first of many steps. We too are a local business, hiring people from our community to ensure you are at your most comfortable, shopping, living, and playing on the streets and in the Orlando businesses you are about to explore. This guide to some of our favorite local businesses will enable you to have a fun time while doing a great deed!
A Spiral Circle Metaphysical Bookstore & Boutique, 750 N Thornton Avenue
There is a very good chance that the bookshelves of your Tuscana Resort sanctuary will be lined with a few books for your reading pleasures, but readers the world over know that you can never have too many books, and A Spiral Circle offers a unique set of tomes destined to change your life! Offering spiritual and self help books, they also provide a meditation room, Intuitive Readers, and small gifts and art objects that you won’t want to leave behind.
Lure Paper Goods, 1009 Virginia Drive
The lure of a new notebook is one that is quite understandable. The cute covers, the interior pages just waiting to be filled with drawings or wise words. Whether you choose to immediately fill the pages or prefer to wait for something special, the notebooks at Lure will speak to your heart! Also offering cards and posters, the items found in this local store won’t weigh your luggage down on your return home.
The Owl’s Attic, 3106 Corrine Drive
If you have spent any time in clothing boutiques lately, you know the prices for your favorite designer items have reached all time highs. Even those who don’t normally think about the cost of nice things are pausing before handing over their credit cards, but when you visit one of our absolute fave shops, The Owl’s Attic, you won’t have to think twice. This charming vintage shop offers a well-timed peek into the past, specializing in clothing, accessories, and even home décor from the 50s all the way through the 90s and beyond. (But the owner’s flower child heart beats a little faster at items from the 60s and 70s!) Bring back a treasure from this well designed little shop and support a local business at the same time.
Gideon’s Bakehouse, East End Market, 3201 Corrine Drive
Stocking your vacation home pantry has never been as delicious as it will be when you stop in Gideon’s Bakehouse. Offering fresh baked cookies that you won’t be able to enjoy anywhere else in the world, (There’s a seven-cookie limit for drop ins, so you may want to preorder by visiting their website.) this sweet sanctuary is one you will want to visit a few times during your stay!
Support Orlando Businesses at the Orlando Farmers Market, 20 N Eola Drive
You can’t get much more local than a farmers’ market, and the Orlando Farmers Market, open on Sundays from 10 AM until 3 PM, offers another way to stock the kitchen and to pick up a few gifts for your family members you weren’t able to bring along for the trip. Offering locally grown produce, baked goods, arts, and crafts, spending a few hours exploring the aisles of this outdoor market may be your favorite part of your stay!
Black Rooster Taqueria, 1323 N Mills Avenue & 3097 Curry Ford Road
Tacos are fast becoming America’s favorite handheld, and Black Rooster Taqueria is our favorite place to enjoy the trend. Offering two locations in Orlando, this local restaurant offers farm to taco freshness, ensuring that the ingredients that make up these delicious treats are also grown and produced locally. Inexpensive and outrageously tasty, even though your Tuscana Resort kitchen is fully equipped, (and probably fully stocked after your trip to the farmers market) you will want to make plans to eat at Black Rooster Taqueria at least once and probably will do so at least twice!
Come Home to Tuscana Resort
As we mentioned earlier on, the most comfortable way of shopping local is by choosing Tuscana Resort for your vacation sanctuary. Reserve your favorite today!
As the last holiday of the summer season begins to draw closer, many wonderful people from around the world are desperately trying to make plans, grabbing on to a season and a celebration that keeps us believing in the good things in life. Maybe summer reminds you of the good old days when you were young and the days stretched out before you filled with endless possibilities or maybe you are just tired. You work hard every day of your life and it is time to take a break on a day devoted to you and everyone you know who works equally hard. Whatever your reason for choosing to get away this upcoming Orlando Labor Day, there are two very important decisions that must be made first: Where are you going, and where are you staying? We at Tuscana Resort have the perfect answer to both of those questions, feeling that Orlando and our holiday hideaways are destined to make this Labor Day a holiday to remember, and because we always go the extra mile, we are throwing in answers to the question you haven’t asked yet: What do we do when we are there? This guide to a Labor Day vacation in sunny Florida will be the start of a new family tradition you will hope never has to end!
All the Comforts of Home This Orlando Labor Day
From your first steps inside until the sad, sad, moment when it is time for you to return to real life, our cozy condos will provide comfort and luxury and an ideal place to celebrate the holiday weekend! Spend your daylight hours visiting theme parks, stopping by farmers markets, and shopping in stores that you can’t find in your own hometown, and come home to a world of comfort and relaxation opportunities every evening. Use our fully equipped kitchens to recreate family dishes, including the potato salad your grandmother used to make, perhaps stopping by the Orlando Farmers Market to pick up the fresh produce that will make this dish even more special. (And if you find a few other things that you just have to have while you’re there, is that such a bad thing?) On a rainy September evening, watching summer movies in the 30-seat movie theater that is just one of many amenities the resort has to offer provides a magic that will never be forgotten, and the resort pool is the perfect place to work on your tan ensuring that you can extend summer a little further into the cooler months of fall! And finally, Labor Day is a day that pays homage to hard work by encouraging laziness and relaxation and sleeping late into the day every morning of your stay may be exactly what your body needs. Our beds are soft and the linens that top them even softer, just be sure to close the curtains or blinds tightly so the morning sun doesn’t wake you until you are ready to face the day!
Labor Day Activities
Now that you have unpacked and explored all our Tuscana Resort properties have to offer, it is time to head out into the city to discover new adventures that will make you love this holiday getaway even more! Labor Day Weekend isn’t the biggest weekend at the theme parks making it the perfect time to enjoy some less frenetic and chaotic time at Disney or Orlando Studios, and because there is a parade every night at Disney, you can celebrate the holiday the way we used to in the good old days! (We miss those simpler times when every summer holiday offered parades and fireworks and an altogether amazing feeling of family and patriotism!)
Summer is eternal in Orlando, with the weather always being great for a dip in the pool and if you want to spend your Labor Day at Aquatica, located at 5800 Water Play Way, you will be able to stay cool and have fun at the same time! Remember the water parks of your youth? Climbing concrete steps until the pads of your feet were sore and tender, sliding down the slides until you were waterlogged and slightly sunburned, and resting on lounge chairs, towels half wrapped around your body and a cherry popsicle creating a party for your taste buds? Your kiddos can enjoy these same fun moments, while parents enjoy tropical cocktails at Trader Turi’s Tiki Bar, a brand new addition to the food and beverage options found at the park!
Joy Is Found Here
Relax, play, and spend your days falling in love with the carefree vibe of Orlando. Your nights and evenings spent with us will ensure that this vacation is one that you will never forget! Reserve your favorite Tuscana Resort holiday haven today and find your joy.
If you’re looking for a place that includes plenty of sun and warmth for your next getaway. you’ll want to make sure Florida makes the short list for your consideration. After deciding on the Sunshine State, you’ll have to figure out just where you want to spend your time. Whether it’s a coastal town or somewhere inland, there is plenty to see and do on your fun-filled Florida vacation and learn all about Orlando.
The 1800s
The town’s modern history dates back to 1838 and the Second Seminole War. The U.S. Army build Fort Gatlin, and the town of Jernigan formed around it. Just six years later, Jernigan became Orlando. There’s no one explanation of the change, since some trace it back to army sentry Orlando Reeves, a man named Mr. Orlando traveling en route to Tampa, the Shakespeare character Orlando in “As You Like It”, and others. The town and post office changed its name to Orlando in 1857. The Town of Orlando was incorporated in 1875 with 85 residents, 22 of whom were qualified voters.
In the early 1860s, log cabins and miles of farmland were a regular feature of the landscape, but when Florida joined the Confederacy, progress in the cotton industry declined. Post-war chaos reigned, but eventually large-herd owners from other parts of Florida came in to organize the industry. From 1875-1895, Orlando was the center of the state’s citrus industry. Unfortunately, the “Great Freeze” of 1894-95 forced small grove owners to give up their groves to larger companies. Orlando is now a major player in the Florida citrus scene once again.
World War II
The municipal airport north of Lake Underhill was quickly converted into Orlando Army Air Base, and a new municipal airport was built ten miles south of Orlando. That airport quickly became Pinecastle Air Force Base, then McCoy Air Force Base, and is now Orlando International Airport. Many of the military families stayed to settle and have families.
Theme Parks
Walt Disney arrived with his Walt Disney World theme park in 1971 after passing up Miami and Tampa in order to avoid hurricanes. Today’s Disney complex covers 47 square miles and includes many resorts, as well as four parks. Other resorts include Universal Orlando, Sea World of Orlando, and others, bringing thousands of tourists to the area every year.

If you’re looking for a break that includes sun, warmth, and unlimited fun, you’ll want to make sure you consider Florida in your plans. Planning the ultimate vacation not only includes where you’ll go, what you’ll do, or where you plan to stay, but also the time of year you plan to visit. Every popular vacation destination has its best times to visit Orlando, and it is no exception.
Winter
The winter months are a great time to visit the warm, sunny locale of Orlando. The heat and humidity of summer have passed, and the tourist season has backed off a bit. December boasts many holiday celebrations, at theme parks and around town. The cooler, drier climate makes it possible for unlimited outdoor fun like hiking, beach time, and more. Schedule a visit that doesn’t include holiday celebrations and enjoy more time at popular attractions. Orlando Magic basketball games, Mardi Gras celebrations, the Citrus Bowl, and the Downtown Food & Wine Fest are a few other winter events to draw you to the area. Winter pricing that doesn’t include a major holiday or tourist event also results in lower airfare, rental fees, and other costs. Beware, many of the fun and exciting summer venues may be running on limited hours or be closed for the season.
Fall
There’s a dip in tourism in the fall months, so tourist attractions are easier to get into and navigate. Airfare, admissions, accommodations, and attractions that come at a premium during the spring and summer are a little more budget-friendly in the fall. You’ll have to contend with lingering heat and humidity, too. Note that prices rise again around Thanksgiving in anticipation of holiday tourism.
Spring & Summer
Spring Break, Easter, Cinco de Mayo, and other celebrations abound in spring. Water and air temperatures begin to warm and outdoor activities like swimming and beach time rise. Crowds come to fill the beaches, restaurants, and other hot spots around town. By summer, the heat, humidity, and the tourist season are in full swing. Parks and attractions are all open and running a regular season schedule and prices. Orlando Restaurant Week, Fourth of July celebrations, and all the summer fun you can think of is at your fingertips. The summer fun is the best time to go to orlando and comes with significant price increases for airfare, rentals, accommodations, and even restaurants.
Have the Best Time in Orlando
No matter what time of year you choose, you’ll enjoy a stress-free, worry-free stay when you book a vacation rental provided by Tuscana Resort Orlando. If you’re looking for a break that includes the sun and warmth of Florida, consider Orlando as your ultimate destination. There is plenty that goes into planning the perfect getaway, from the things you’ll do and places you go, to where you’ll stay and just how you’ll get around to all your must-do and must-see items on your list. Another to-do is how you’ll travel safely from place to place. There is a myriad of ways, and you can choose which one suits your needs best. This guide will help you in getting around Orlando.
Rental Vehicle
When you touch down at the Orlando airport, your mind is on a myriad of different things at once. From where you stowed your carry-on to gathering your whole group to exit the plane together, just getting off the plane is a task of its own. As you go down your mental checklist, you may breathe a sigh of relief that your rental vehicle will be waiting for you just outside the doors of the airport rental desk. Check in, grab the keys, and head off on your unique Orlando adventure. Keep your eyes open, Orlando traffic can be tough, especially around construction zones and the major theme parks.
Uber or Lyft
Ride sharing is a popular way of getting around orlando without a car, including Orlando. It cuts out the mileage, insurance, and other fees of renting a vehicle and still gets you everywhere you want to go. There is often special parking for Uber and Lyft vehicles at hotels, shopping or dining establishments, theme parks, and other popular destinations, so traveling between spots is a breeze. Drivers know the area – including the shortcuts around construction and traffic backups you would otherwise sit through if you’re following your rental vehicle’s GPS.
Taxi
Taxis also offer door-to-door service throughout the city and know all the shortcuts and back roads that come from living and working in the area. Unlike Uber or Lyft, you don’t necessarily need to call or schedule a taxi, as many are available right outside the airport or continuously monitoring popular stops for patrons needing a ride.
